I haven't got the book yet but I have my doubts about the validity of the claims that the Boland Trail rates amongst the 12 best trails in the Cape. This trail has been cut down to just The Sphinx, Boesmanskloof and Orchard routes, the latter being closed for 2 years or more because of a bridge having been washed away and the refurbishing of the Aloe Ridge huts. Whats more, the lovely Stokoe Pass trail was deleted off your maps and the Somerset Sneeukop route was badly overgrown the last time I did it and dangerous to hikers. I hope after the recent fire on the Boland Trail the 'whole" Boland Trail has been restored to it's former glory. Peter Phillips

I like this book, even though everyone will always have there own personal TOP 12, I think it's a good mix of the available trails. The Author walked all the trails, and it shows. I recently used it as a guide to The Whale Trail and found it very accurate. Nice to see a hiking book with maps. When is the next one due?

The descriptions of the trails are wonderful, filled with all manner of interesting tidbits. I think they will inspire the most hardened couch potato to get out there and experience some of the trails for themselves. The maps are great too - very user-friendly. All in all a really nice book.
