Farmstall to Farmstall, By Jennifer Stern
When I first heard about Jennifer Stern’s latest book, “Farmstall to Farmstall”, I felt a sense of excitement and wonder.
Jennifer spent her time venturing on a magical “food journey”, travelling 13,000km, visiting and researching different Farm stalls across South Africa.
I’m sure many of you would be extremely envious of her Farm Stall road trip, I know I am. But the adventurous foodie has collected all her findings and from that, published a “Food Lover’s Guide to Farm Stalls and Markets in South Africa“.
This guide is for anyone who believes that the essence of food runs through their veins, for those of you who would enjoy home-made fresh, baked bread with a delicious cup of traditional Moerkoffie rather than a cup of watery “brown stuff”, and for those of you who would like to pin-point your “Must Try” little gems, for your next foodie adventure.
Stern’s delicious guide, “Farmstall to Farmstall”, is easy to read and exceptionally simple when it comes to finding specific Farm Stalls. Each Farm Stall along her routes have symbols to indicate what can be expected – whether it’s great coffee, fresh bakes, accommodation or if they allow your four-legged friend – it’s all stated in this handy guide.
What I enjoy most about Jennifer Stern’s guide, is that it gives exposure to those difficult to find Farm Stalls, opens our eyes towards local food producers and gives readers the option to research and explore the history of each Farm Stall.
The “Farmstall to Farmstall” guide includes easy-peasy recipes as well as a list of food markets and festivals across our country.
