Map Studio supplies individual 1:50 000 topographic sheets of South Africa in electronic format at R120 per sheet.
These are vector-drawn topographic maps — contours, spot heights, watercourses, roads, tracks, farm boundaries and place names. They are not satellite imagery or orthophotos.
How to order
- Find the sheet numbers you need. South Africa is divided into numbered 1:50 000 sheets. Email us the place name, farm name or coordinates you are interested in and we will tell you which sheet or sheets cover it — or ask for the Google Earth index overlay and we will send it to you.
- Send us your order at louise@mapstudio.global, listing the sheet numbers.
- We invoice you. R120 per sheet.
- On payment, the files are sent by WeTransfer or Dropbox.
Using the Google Earth index
If you prefer to look the sheet numbers up yourself, download Google Earth, then email us for the Map Studio 1:50 000 index overlay. Opening the overlay in Google Earth draws the sheet grid over the imagery; typing a place name into the search bar zooms to it and shows you which numbered sheet it falls in.
Google's imagery is used only to locate the sheet numbers. The sheets you receive are vector topographic maps, not the imagery.
