The Joburg & Pretoria Regional Wall Map covers the Gauteng Central and Pretoria regions at 1:60 000 — close enough to name suburbs, interchanges and shopping centres, with Johannesburg, Pretoria and the corridor between them on a single sheet over two metres tall.
The road network is graded from freeways and national roads through through-routes to minor roads, with route markers and toll and eToll plazas shown. Freeway interchanges are numbered and named, with the destinations from the roadside signs reproduced alongside them. Railways with their stations are drawn, and the Gautrain is drawn separately with its stations.
Suburb and provincial boundaries are drawn with municipal areas shaded, and shading separates retail, industrial and built-up areas and informal settlements from parks and sports grounds. Suburbs are named individually, and farm names carry their registration numbers — Mooiplaats 355 JR, Zwartkop 356 JR, Doornkloof 391 JR — where township land gives way to farm land. Hospitals and clinics carrying a casualty unit are shown separately from those without, and shopping centres, petrol stations, airfields, the international airport, dams and lakes, pans, marsh, rivers and named spot heights complete the sheet.
Suitable for
Logistics, delivery and dispatch. Freeway interchanges are numbered and named with their roadside destinations, toll and eToll plazas are marked, petrol stations are shown, and industrial areas are shaded separately across both metros.
Retail, sales and property. Retail areas are shaded and shopping centres marked, with suburb boundaries and names throughout — the commercial geography of the corridor on one sheet.
Emergency services and public safety. Hospitals and clinics carrying a casualty unit are shown separately from those without, alongside airfields and the international airport.
Planning and development. Farm names carry their registration numbers, suburb and provincial boundaries are drawn, municipal areas are shaded, and land use is separated into retail, industrial, built-up, informal settlement and open space.
Not the right map if you need every street named. At 1:60 000 the major roads are named but the side streets are not. For street level, see the city wall maps.
