These terms apply when you browse www.mapstudio.co.za or buy from us online. Please read them with our Shipping policy, Refund policy and Privacy policy, which form part of these terms. By placing an order you accept these terms.

2. Our products

We publish and sell printed maps, wall maps, atlases, guides and globes. We describe and photograph every product as accurately as we can. Colours on screen and finishes can differ slightly from the printed item.

Maps show places, roads and boundaries as they were when the map was compiled. Roads, names and boundaries change, so please use any map with judgement, especially when travelling.

3. Prices

All prices are in South African Rand and include VAT. Delivery is charged separately at the rates in our Shipping policy and is shown at checkout before you pay.

If a product is shown at a clearly wrong price because of an error, we will contact you before dispatching it. You can then buy at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.

4. Orders and payment

Your order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed when we confirm your order by email. We may decline an order, for example if an item is out of stock, in which case we refund anything you have paid in full.

Payment is taken at checkout through our payment provider. We do not see or store your full card details.

5. Delivery

We deliver within South Africa by courier at the rates and times in our Shipping policy. International orders are quoted per order. Risk in the goods passes to you when they are delivered to the address you gave us.

6. Cooling-off period

Under section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, you may cancel an online order without reason or penalty within 7 days of receiving the goods. Tell us by email or phone within that time. If you return the goods, the only charge is the direct cost of returning them; no handling fee applies. We refund you within 30 days of your cancellation.

The cooling-off right does not apply to goods made to your specifications, such as custom or personalised maps, or to digital products once supplied.

7. Returns, refunds and defective goods

After the cooling-off period, returns are handled under our Refund policy. Goods must be returned in their original condition within 30 days, and a 15% handling fee is charged on every return. Where the Refund policy says so, you also pay the cost of returning the goods.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act. If a product is defective, you may return it within 6 months of delivery, and we will repair or replace it, or refund you, at your choice.

8. Custom mapping

Custom and personalised maps are quoted separately. The written quote sets out the price, any deposit and the delivery time.

Proof approval. Before we print a custom map, we send you a proof. Please check it carefully: place names, spelling, boundaries, colours and size. Once you tell us to print, the approved proof is taken to be exactly what you want, and we print the map as the proof shows it.

Because a custom map is made to your specifications, it cannot be returned or refunded once it matches the approved proof. Your rights for defective goods, such as a printing fault, still apply.

9. Copyright

All maps, artwork, text and images on this website and in our products belong to Map Studio or its licensors and are protected by copyright. You may not copy, scan, reproduce or resell them, in print or digitally, without our written permission. Buying a map gives you the right to use and display it, not to reproduce it.

10. Liability

We take care in compiling our maps, but to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of our products or this website. Nothing in these terms excludes any liability that cannot be excluded under the Consumer Protection Act or other South African law.

11. Privacy

We handle your personal information as set out in our Privacy policy and in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act.

12. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms from time to time; the version on this page when you place your order applies to that order. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
