The General Information Wall Map of South Africa shows the country with its municipal areas at 1:1 500 000 — municipal boundaries drawn over the national road network on a sheet 1.6 metres wide.

The road network is graded from freeways and national roads through main roads to secondary roads, with tarred, untarred and under-construction sections distinguished and route numbers given. Distances in kilometres are printed between towns and separately along the national roads, toll routes are marked, and railways with their stations are drawn. International, provincial and municipal boundaries are all shown.

Settlements are graded from capital and city down to individual settlement. Rest camps, historical sites, battlefields, border control posts, major airports, major spot heights and places of interest are marked, alongside national parks and game reserves, dams and lakes and perennial and non-perennial rivers.

Suitable for

Municipal, government and public-sector work. Municipal boundaries are drawn across the whole country over the road network — the sheet for anyone whose work is organised by municipality rather than by province.

Sales and service territories. Municipal areas give a finer grid than provinces to divide against, with towns graded by size and distances printed between them.

Transport and route planning. Distances in kilometres between towns and along the national roads, toll routes, border posts and the tarred-versus-untarred distinction throughout.

Tourism and heritage. Historical sites, battlefields, rest camps, national parks, game reserves and places of interest are marked across the country.
