South Africa Political Wall Map

The South Africa Political Wall Map shows the nine provinces, their capitals and the national road network on a sheet 1.1 metres wide, built for the classroom.

Settlements are graded six ways, and the capitals are graded among them: capital city, national and province capital, province capital, then major town, town and village. It is a small distinction that does a lot of work — South Africa's capitals are not a single place, and this map shows that rather than glossing it.

Provinces are named and coloured and the neighbouring countries are named, with country and province boundaries drawn separately. Roads are graded from major roads through tarred to untarred with route numbers given, railway lines are drawn, and international airports are distinguished from other airports.

Suitable for

Geography and civics classrooms. Provinces, provincial capitals and the different kinds of national capital are each given their own symbol — the political structure of the country as a map rather than a list.

Training rooms and reception areas. Clear provincial colouring at a size a room can read together, without the density of a working road map.

General route awareness. Major, tarred and untarred roads are distinguished with route numbers given, and railway lines and airports are shown.

Pairs with the physical sheet. The South Africa Physical Educational Wall Map is the same size and series, with relief in nine height bands.
