Wall Maps

Map Studio wall maps have hung in South African offices, depots, control rooms and classrooms since 1958. The range runs from individual street names to the whole world, and every sheet is compiled and drawn in-house.

There are six families, and the difference between them is scale — how much ground the sheet covers, and therefore how much detail it can carry.

City — nine sheets at 1:20 000 and 1:25 000. Individual streets are named, with one-way streets, traffic lights, hospitals carrying a casualty unit, suburb boundaries and industrial areas. Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha, Bloemfontein, the Vaal Triangle and the West Rand.

Regional — 1:60 000 to 1:100 000. Wider than a city, closer than a province: suburb names and boundaries across a whole metro, with the major roads named.

Provincial — all nine provinces plus a national sheet, each on A0, with municipal boundaries drawn and the municipalities named, and distances in kilometres printed between towns.

South Africa — the country on one sheet, including the thematic maps: mining and minerals, municipal areas, and the Businessman's map at 1:1 000 000.

Africa and World — continental and global sheets for boardrooms, trading floors and anyone whose work crosses borders.

Every wall map is laminated and can be supplied with or without battens, the strips top and bottom that keep a large sheet flat and hanging straight. Sizes run from a one-metre Bloemfontein sheet to the 3.65-metre Johannesburg. Any map in the range can also be customised with your sales regions, trading areas, depot radii or branding.
